Use this calculator to estimate the amount of paint you’ll need to paint your shed. The most common shed wall height is 8 feet.
All sheds need to be painted occasionally in order to protect them from the elements. Painting a shed is easy enough to do, but it can be hard to figure out how much paint to buy to do the job. Most experts recommend buying one gallon of paint to cover up to 400 square feet of surface. Using this recommendation, along with the length and width of your shed, allows us to calculate how many gallons of paint you will need.
Shed Paint Calculator Tip #1
Don’t forget, each gallon covers between 250-400 square feet. Don’t forget to factor in the paint for a second coat if necessary.
Shed Paint Calculator Tip #2
Two gallon cans of paint cover up to 800 square feet, which is enough to cover a fairly large shed. This is the most common amount needed, especially when considering second coat coverage.
Shed Paint Calculator Tip #3
If your shed has trim, estimate the amount of paint you’ll need by determining the length of total trim. If the average trim width is six inches, multiply the total trim length by 0.5 feet. To estimate the gutter, determine the total length of the gutter. One linear foot of gutter approximates one square foot.
